“St Francis Rejecting the World and Embracing Christ”. |
Psalm 2
3
Incline your ear to my entreaty look to my soul and set her free.
4
Snatch me away from my foes.
Comment
The
Psalmist is speaking on two levels here. The spirit and the body.
Look inside me, see that I am true to your teachings. Protect that inner
part of me which loves and adores you. It is too precious to be taken. Take me
away from those who would harm me.
Reflection
Sometimes
we separate ourselves without thinking. Yet both are needed to make a
whole. In your life which do you focus on first: body or spirit?
Psalm
2
Friday
14th March
5 For you are the one who took me out of
the womb- you have been my hope from my mother's breast.
6 Upon you I was cast from the very womb
of my mother.
Comment
In
rich maternal imagery, the psalmist speaks of total trust in God. Before even a conscious thought had formed in
a child’s mind, God was instrumental in the psalmist’s life. For some this will
readily recall to mind the words of Jesus about being children. For others, the maternal imagery maybe a
stumbling point.
Reflection
Can
you see now that God has been present in your life, even before you realised
it? How does that make you feel?
