Now John wore clothing of camel’s hair with a leather belt around his
waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.

Reflection:
Matthew tells us how John lived in the desert. In
the process he gives us a glimpse of the sight John must have presented to the
people coming to be baptised. Yet the people heard John’s message.
I wonder if perhaps there are times when we spend too much time focused on how
we look, and in doing so we lose sight of the message.
